Students Making Adult Choices oKay!
SMACK is about youth saying “yes!” to bestowing a holy kiss (hence the smacking sound) of love on people in need in our community through service. This is an adult choice not because all adults make it but because it is the mature choice, the choice of a grown-up follower of Christ.
SMACK not only gives the youth an opportunity to serve God by serving others, but each April they ask people to sponsor them for an eight hour work day to raise money for Hope’s annual trip to Mexico to build a house for a family in Tijuana. In this way they make another adult choice: taking responsibility for their goals.
“Then the King will say, "I’m telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me—you did it for me.’” Matthew 25:40 (The Message)

Did you know you can get an Iced Hazelnut Latte at Hope on Sunday mornings? You can even get a Watermelon Italian Soda or a Peppermint Mocha! With fourteen flavors to choose from, you can sip a fine drink and support the youth program all at the same time. Hope’s high school youth run this ministry along with Deb Sloan to provide everyone at Hope with the opportunity to excite their taste buds. Plus, all donations are used by the youth for their activities. Let our baristas set you up with a delicious drink at the west end of the fellowship hall by the church library.
Youth! If you would like to take part in this ministry you must be in high school to serve behind the bar but responsible youth of any age can act as waiters. Contact Chuck Roberts for more information.

Hope is committed to serving others not only in our own community but where ever we can in the world. We are sending a group of people to Mexico to build a house for a needy family on June 9, 2012. This is a holy experience, start talking to God about how you can be part of it.
If you would like to learn more about this trip contact Chuck at 941-2294 or attend the kick-off meeting at Hope on January 22, 2012.
